Legal Fees
Contingency fee arrangements allow lawyers and their clients to agree that the lawyer will be paid only in the event of success.
You will not be required to pay anything “up front” for our services as long as your case can be settled without going to trial.
An account will usually only be issued to you at the following times
- If the defendant makes an advance payment;
- If you dismiss your lawyer as your counsel;
- Once your matter is settled or judgment is obtained.
We receive payment out of the proceeds of the litigation or settlement. In other words, the money for our fees and any disbursements (money we spend to present your claim) comes from the defending insurance company.
If the defence does not make an offer you are prepared to accept, a decision will have to be made as to whether or not to take your case to trial.
At that point we will make a recommendation as to whether or not you should accept or reject the offer.
